Data Deletion

Account controls include Download your data, which creates a portable copy of the account and reader information available for export. Download anything you want to keep before starting deletion.

Account deletion is permanent once completed. Sibyl cannot restore your profile, Stacks, ratings, follows, comments, or taste profile afterward.

Use Delete account while signed in and follow the confirmation steps. Sibyl will verify the active session and show any issue that must be resolved before deletion can begin.

If you cannot access your account, email support@sibylbooks.com from the account email address when possible. Sibyl may request additional verification, but will not ask for your password, an authentication link, or full payment-card details.

Deletion removes your account details, profile, settings, public and private Stacks, Stack notes, ratings, saved Stacks, follows, taste data, recommendation choices, and other account-linked discovery information from Sibyl's active systems.

Account links in operational records are deleted, de-identified, or retained only where the limited exceptions below apply. Aggregate statistics that no longer identify you may remain.

Your public profile, public Stack pages, Stack notes, and comments you authored are removed. Replies written by other readers may remain, but they will no longer link to your deleted content or public identity.

Sibyl removes deleted public pages from its own discovery surfaces and sitemap. Search engines, shared screenshots, and ordinary caches outside Sibyl's control may take time to update or may retain copies created while the content was public.

An account with an active or unresolved Sibyl Supporter subscription cannot be deleted immediately. The subscription must first be canceled or resolved through Stripe, synchronized with Sibyl, and reach a status showing that it has ended and cannot renew.

Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and benefits continue through that period. After Stripe confirms the subscription has ended and Sibyl has reconciled the status, you can complete account deletion without leaving an unmanaged recurring charge.

Sibyl may retain limited billing, invoice, fraud-prevention, security, moderation, support, or legal records when reasonably required. Access to those records is restricted, and they are kept only for the applicable purpose and retention period.

Records retained for safety or moderation are not used to rebuild your public profile or personalize future recommendations.

Deleted information may remain temporarily in protected backups until those backups expire through their normal schedule. Backups are not used as live product data.

If a restore reintroduces data from a completed deletion, Sibyl's deletion process removes it again before the restored system is treated as complete.

Sibyl confirms receipt of a supported request, explains any verification or subscription step that is needed, and provides a completion notice—or an explanation if part of a request cannot be fulfilled—within the deadline that applies to the request.
